N'Amerind New Logo- Meet the Artist
Hello, my name is Teyelihwa'ka:ne', my english name is Twyla Antone. I'm a 24 year old digital graphic artist from Oneida. Currently attending University of Wisconsin-Green Bay studying Psychology. I have grown up in and around the London area, I have been apart of N'Amerind community for my entire life - attending childrens programs, community events and volunteering at various events and activities within N'Amerind Friendship Centre.
The logo shows the London, ON skyline as well the Thames River which flows in and around the city. It also includes the N'Amerind Friendship Centre building which is placed amongst the high rises in downtown. The logo also showcases the thunderbird atop the pine tree which tie into both the haudenosaunee and the Anishinaabe cultures. Another reason I wanted to include the thunderbird is because it has been recognized as part of the N'Amerind logo since the start. The skydomes around the edge are another design, which comes from the haudenosaunee people, that represents our connection between this world and the skyworld from which the haudenosaunee come from. The skydomes also show the trees and plants that grow in the area that are still used as traditional medicine today. Yaw^ko
